Committed to making a change, starting with himself.
Meet Ray Marcusen
At 16 years old, Ray Marcusen faced a frustrating reality: it hurt to simply stand up from a chair. He wasn’t overweight, and he had no underlying genetic issues, yet the pain was debilitating. A trip to the doctor resulted in a vague diagnosis of Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome. The translation? "We don't know why your knees hurt."
Ray turned to physical therapy with high hopes, but the pain remained. It wasn't until years later that he realized his treatment had been built on outdated, inaccurate research.
Frustrated but determined, Ray shifted his focus to what he could do: upper-body training. But without proper mechanics, this lead to a new disaster—torn labrums in both shoulders. At a young age, he was forced to walk away from basketball, bodybuilding, and his dream of becoming a personal trainer.
On the precipice of accepting a life defined by injury, a spark returned. Now married with a young toddler at home, Ray’s wife encouraged him to pursue his original dream. Her belief in him relit the fire.
He didn't just go back to the gym; he went back to the books.
Today, Ray is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer with dual specializations that bridge the gap between rehab and results:
Corrective Exercise (CES): For the "normal person" struggling with chronic aches, desk-job posture, or old injuries that won't go away.
Performance Enhancement (PES): For the athlete who wants to run faster and jump higher without the fear of being sidelined by a snap or tear.
Ray lives life completely free of the knee and shoulder pain that once halted his career. Through P.O.P. Fitness, he applies that same systematic approach to his clients. Whether you are a parent who wants to play with your kids without back pain, or an athlete looking to bulletproof your body for the next season, Ray’s mission is simple: to help you move better, live stronger, and outrun your "misery-lit path."
